On Monday, April 16, we have the opportunity to help our community in a tremendous way.
As the administrator of a facebook group called Mayfield Steals & Deals...Local Coupon Community, I began praying about God's will. I felt led to "help" somehow, but I wasn't sure how, so I kept praying. Little did I know, at the very same time I was being convicted, another administrator of the group was being convicted in the very same way. I had not told her about my feelings until I sent her a text, and she responded that she'd been led the same way I had. A couple days later, she called me with the name of an organization she'd been led to to help...as a group, and what was so amazing was God had been planting that seed in me all day. It was amazing how this was truly His timing.
So...on Monday, April 16, as a group, I have asked the members to donate personal items to a local food ministry called Not One Missed. This ministry gives out food baskets the third Tuesday of each month. They do not ask for income verification, only a drivers license or photo id in order to get the box of food. Unlike other ministries, they have a devotion time before the monthly donations are given out, and everyone has the opportunity to speak with a spiritual counselor. They only give out food, but when I spoke with the organizer, he told me the need for personal items was great, and they had wanted to include them in the boxes but were only able to focus on the food, as they are solely funded by donations.
I have been reminding the group members about the donation request and asking them to pray about their donations...I am also praying for God's complete and total blessing on the donations and to all who give. If you are willing to donate personal items to this wonderful ministry, you can deliver your donations beginning at 5:00 until 6:30 on Monday, April 16, the donations will be given out on April 17. The address is 1201 West Broadway, Mayfield KY 42066.
My prayer is that this becomes an annual event, and eventually we will have given so many personal items that each box can have some every month.
In honor of this big donation day, and also...in honor of my oldest son's 16th birthday today...I will be doing ANOTHER give - away!!! The give - away will start Sunday, April 15 at midnight, and go until Monday at midnight...just follow the instructions below and enter!
Only one entry per person will be allowed, duplicate entries will be deleted. The winner will be drawn randomly from random.org based on the number of points you earn. I will notify the winner by email, or by facebook, or both...lol
