FREE Tip Tuesday - Where do I need to start?

WHERE DO I BEGIN???

There are several places you can get coupons - your Sunday newspaper (I recommend the Louisville Courier Journal, you can go here to find a list of all the stores in this area that carry the Louisville Courier Journal), ALL YOU Magazine, printable coupons, coupons from emails, facebook, and free samples.

You need to decide if you want to use all these sources, or just one or two to begin with - I personally recommend starting slow, so that you don't get overwhelmed.  I would recommend your Sunday newspaper and printable coupons.  Once you decide which places you are going to get your coupons from, you need to continue to get these coupons every week, month, or whatever interval they come.  You must be faithful in gathering and clipping your coupons.

There are three (3) different types of Sunday Coupon Inserts, RedPlum (RP), SmartSource (SS), and Proctor and Gamble (P&G).  Normally, a good rule of thumb is to get two two (2) papers per family member..since I have 3 in my family, I get 6 papers every Sunday.  You can preview what coupons may/may not be in the Sunday paper each Wednesday on the facebook group Mayfield Steals & Deals…Local Coupon Community, or I also post in on this blog.

All coupon inserts vary by regions in the county, so we may or may not get the coupons listed in the preview, or we may get a higher/lower value coupon than is listed in the preview. I have generally found that the coupons in the Louisville Courier Journal are pretty good coupons, and they don't vary much from the previews.

There are LOTS of printable coupons available.  Normally, you can print each printable coupon twice, and they are usually good for 30 days.  When you print your coupons, search different zip codes, as with coupon inserts, printable coupons also vary by region.  Remember to hit your browsers "back" button to print each coupon twice, that is your limit per month.  Coupons normally "reload" at the beginning of each month, and only have a set number of "prints" available, so you want to print your coupons at the beginning of each month, so they don't run out of prints before you get yours.  The top places to print your coupons are coupons.com, smartsource.com, redplum.com, and couponnetwork.com.  You can click this link to be taken to those websites.

There are also printable coupons called "bricks" coupons, these are special coupons that companies will offer for a limited number of prints, these are usually higher value coupons.  You can also print these coupons twice, by simply hitting your browsers back button.  There is no way to search for these, they are just offers from companies, lots of times you find these on the company's facebook page.  These types of coupons typically go fast, so when you find a high value printable coupon, print it quickly.

There is a magazine called "All You".  You can subscribe to this magazine or buy it at your local Wal-Mart.  I buy 6 magazines per month.  You can look inside the magazine cover to find what coupons are in that month's issue.  They also have a website where you can get exclusive printable coupons.  Sometimes, I've noticed that the coupons that are in the subscription ALL You are different from the ones you purchase at Wal-Mart.

Remember, your not going to save $1000.00 your first week, it takes time, so, follow my tips, and don't give up!  You will get the hang of it, and will start saving your family thousands of dollars....along with donating to others in need.
