Make Money Monday

Today's topic on Make Money Monday is about Mail in Rebates.

There are lots of great ways to make a little extra money here and there, and to me, every little bit helps.  I am always on the lookout for mail in rebates.  These are, simply, rebates from companies for various reasons, maybe they want you to try their product, or, they are promoting a new item.  These are great ways for you to get your money back on purchasing items.  Here is my favorite website to find printable rebate forms.

One rule I always use, I NEVER buy something just to get the rebate.  I keep all my receipts, and am constantly on the lookout for rebates.  If I see a rebate available for something I have already purchased, then I print the form and mail in the required information.  It does not profit if you have to buy something just to get the rebate.

There is a new type of rebate I just learned about this year, it's called "No Beer Purchase Required" rebates.  Have you seen those little rebate forms in your local grocery store hanging around the liquor items?  Well, I never paid any attention to those...I sure wish I had!!!  In Kentucky, we are not required to purchase the beer or alcohol to receive the rebates!!!!  How awesome is that?  So, when the rebate says...for example..."Purchase a case of Acme Pretend Beer and 2 cases of water and receive $10.00 back" - for Kentucky, all you would have to purchase to be eligible for this rebate would be the cases of water!!!  I have been researching these types of rebates, and have discovered that they are mostly for alcohol and items we already purchase on a normal grocery shopping trip!  I have personally sent in about $150.00 in these types of rebates this year, and have had no problems so far...I am tickled pink!!!!  What you do have to watch for is the dates of the items of the rebates, make sure you purchase the items within the time period specified, and send in your required information by the time specified.  These offers tend to have offer numbers, and I have also noticed there there may be 3 or 4 of the same offer, but with different offer numbers...you can submit for all the offers, as long as they have different offer numbers!!!  You do normally have to have the original cash register receipt...so, if I think that I am purchasing more than one item that might qualify for a rebate, I ask the cashier to print two receipts before I start checking out, and then I remind him/her before I pay that I need two receipts.

I find my NBPR "No Beer Purchase Required" rebates mostly on ebay...I just search "NBPR rebates" and it pulls up all the auctions listed with that in the subject line.  Then, I just read in the descriptions to see if I have already submitted those rebates, and if it lists my state as a participating state.  Some offers are not available in all states.  I also keep a spreadsheet of all rebates I've submitted for, along with the offer number so I won't try to submit for the same offer twice.  I also try to submit only a few rebates at a time, normally on Mondays, so that way, each Monday I have a couple rebates going out, and hopefully that means I have a few coming in every week.

When I get my checks from my rebates, I cash them, and that is the money I use to spend at Walgreens, CVS, Dollar General, etc.  This helps me keep my money for other things.

Why not submit a couple rebates and see how it goes?

Making Money with your iPhone

If you have an iPhone, I have found a couple apps that I absolutely LOVE...and the best thing is, I can earn money with them!!!

The first one I just joined this weekend, it's called Viggle.  Literally, all you do is...watch TV.  Seriously.  You just "check in" to a TV Show, and you get points when the show is over.  It's that easy.  While your watching, they also have short videos you can watch to earn extra points, and if you watch their "featured" shows, you get more points.  It's easy.  Basically, when a show comes on, you "check in".  Don't "check in" to another show until one is over.  What I do is "check in", then lay my phone down and go do whatever I was doing to begin with.  You don't have to hold your phone the whole time, just "check in", then, when the show is over, "check in" to another show.  You don't even have to watch it, just have your TV on...and your earning points!!!  Then you redeem your points for gift cards or other rewards!  I joined Sunday and already have enough points to earn (2) $5.00 CVS gift cards...how cool is that?  Just click the link below to download the app.

The other app I use on my iPhone to earn a little extra money, and extra savings while shopping is called shopkick.  When you go shopping, open up your app, and it will pull up stores close to your location.  You can get points just for walking into certain stores, or scanning a product at a store.  You can also register your debit or credit card, and if you use your card at participating stores, you can earn extra points.  You can then redeem your points for gift cards or other rewards.  Also, there are exclusive savings codes that you can pull up on your phone for participating stores and show your cashier when you check out.  If your a shopper like I am, this is a really neat little app to use while I'm shopping, to earn a little of the money back that I'm spending!!!  Click the link below to download the app.

Thankful Thursday - What Are You Thankful For This Week?

Today is another "Thankful Thursday" - and what are you thankful for?

This week has been a whirl wind for me...with the airing of my interview on my local news station, I am amazed by the response, however...not surprised.  Why am I not surprised?  Because a few weeks ago I was feeling overwhelmed but at the same time I knew I had to keep on going on .  So, during my prayer time, I gave it to Him...I told Him to take the Facebook Group and make it His...no kidding, within a few days I'd received a call from my local news station and had been interviewed about my coupon use.

I'm nothing special, I'm just an ordinary person who wants to be in His will.  That's all.  So after the little segment aired on Monday, the response has been tremendous.  I knew it would be a great response, because I put Him in control, but...like my preacher said...don't ask Him to open a door if your not prepared to go through it when it's open...

So this week, I am thankful that I gave it to Him!  I am thankful that I can give it to Him openly and publicly...I am thankful He loves me AND you!  I am thankful that for whatever reason, He decided to use me in this way...
